Winter Inground Pool Covers and Liners

Of all the cool things in my house, the in ground swimming pool at the back has got to be the best. It’s not a fancy shape, just a plain old rectangle, but the decoration and surface material is top class: Mediterranean style with a hint of Caribbean, and when you see it in the summer you would never imagine that it requires any sort of inground pool cover or liner (browse on amazon here); you would be forgiven for thinking it has some amazing technology to remain this way all year round. However, that is unfortunately not the case. In the summer here in Arizona we have sweltering temperatures and the one thing all my friends and I can depend on is my swimming pool. We have a very expensive filtering system installed so that keeps the water clean, but then again a filtering system can’t stop things falling into the pool – these things have to be scooped out manually, which is a real pain. Since it’s Arizona it’s well known for being extremely dusty here to the point where storms can lift layers and layers of sand and debris off the ground and transfer it to your back garden, and if you don’t have the necessary precautions in place it is going to be a real headache to clear everything up again. The worst thing is working hard to get a beautiful back garden and swimming pool, yet to have it all go down the drain in just one day. After that, you clean it up and you think it’s over. You get that satisfied feeling of accomplishment, but two weeks later an even more severe storm comes and you’re back to square one.

Initially I thought a dustpan and brush would be enough to sweep my patio and the nice stone paving we have installed, then our pool filter would do the rest as far as the water is concerned. However, I found that there was a lot of thick mud mixed with dust, and dead leaves, that the pool filter obviously couldn’t remove. And so, I looked for an alternative. Don’t get me wrong – pool filters and disinfectant such as bleach, hypochlorous acid and so on are absolutely necessary to keep bacteria and viruses at bay, but at the same time as more modern methods of chemical pool maintenance are employed, so must we remember the more primitive yet no less effective methods (browse on amazon here) of protecting our most prized swimming pools.

A pool cover is a deceptively simple thing; perhaps that’s why I didn’t think of it in the first place. Winter pool covers (browse on amazon here) have a number of uses, each of which is just as important as the other. First of all, they are used to reduce heating bills by minimizing heat loss via preventing the swimming pool water from evaporating which is the primary reason for heat loss in the vast majority of swimming pools. People forget how much water goes into a swimming pool – vast, vast amounts – and the cost of heating it and keeping the water warm is enormous. Just one purchase of an  inground pool cover (browse on amazon here) can save you money on your heating bills many orders of magnitude greater than the initial cost of the cover itself. Second, pool covers can prevent the nightmare that I have described in the above paragraphs: They can stop any and every particle from making its way into your swimming pool when you are not using it. You can save yourself a considerable amount of stress and effort simply by covering up your pool in a high quality material when it is not in use; this particularly applies in the winter and the fall, when snow falls and leaves fall from trees in their thousands. Third, and finally, is safety. If you have children or pets, you need to consider a swimming pool cover which can be connected to the pool deck, so that it will prevent anyone from falling in. I would always recommend buying a pool cover that is safety compliant: You need to make sure that your loved ones are well protected, as well as saving money on heating and cleaning expenses.

This site has been made to not only inform you about the general uses and benefits of inground pool covers as I have outlined above, but also to help you come to a decision about the right inground swimming pool cover for you. I have gathered reviews and articles from people all around the country who have purchased and experienced the respective inground winter pool cover (browse on amazon here) they will be reviewing. But ultimately, the decision is up to you, and dependent on a variety of factors which are unique to every person and the house in which you live. I wish you the best of luck on your journey to the perfect pool!
